Quality Products, Male Boudoir, and Social Advertising

“When the customer comes first, the customer will last.”-Robert Half

It’s a not-so-well-kept secret that customer service is a key to keeping and maintaining lasting customer relationships. Without it, you may get a customer in the door, but you won’t guarantee you will ever see that customer again. Since Club Cabeza knows more than a few customer service artistes, we have polled several area businesses for their customer service tips and tricks.

Customer Service Tip #1: Quality Products
Romi DiRoberto, President and Design Consultant for Florida Design & Associates, Inc., has worked with her husband and his cousin at their family owned interior design business since 1993. The company’s “Shop At Home” services range from window and drapery design to home interior consulting. When customers call DiRoberto, they know they can count on a wide and high-quality product selection.
Romi DiRoberto

“One of the things that matters most is the quality of service and product,” DiRoberto says. “If my clients are not happy, then I am not happy. I think that is a direct reflection of my personality as well as the way that I think any and all businesses should be represented.”

DiRoberto says a strong knowledge base of the construction and design industries allows her to find the right products to show clients. She is always looking for new offerings, including the Coulisse product line of pleated shades, roller shades and gliding panel systems.

“They have a sleek design and when they are fully raised, the head rail almost disappears,” DiRoberto says. “The roller shades have many options as well and will fit any window in any room in any style of home or office.”

DiRoberto has taken this business knowledge to her Pompano Beach-based doggy-grooming salon called “Doggy Stylin’.” The same values in providing quality services carry over into the business where dog groomers Jeannie and Mary have more than 30 years’ experience in the industry.

Customer Service Tip #2: Find Your Niche
Photographer Noël de Christian found a niche in the photography business, and has made a life’s work out of it.

“My services are rather niche-oriented since I don’t photograph everything under the sun,” de Christian says. “I basically photograph adults with a strong focus on men. Us men are usually neglected from professional photography — though it’s getting better — with a much stronger emphasis on women, children and families.”

When de Christian found his niche in the photography world, the results were life-changing for him and his clients.
Noel de Christian Photography

“I believe that today’s men are starting to realize that they can be photographed professionally for personal reasons and still enjoy the session and its outcome,” he says. “I have client who mentioned to me how their new pictures have changed their lives for the better and how others see them.”

Offering a vast array of services that include portraits, headshots, male physique and fashion and what de Christian terms “Dudoir” or male boudoir shots, de Christian’s prestige and reputation as a photographer have grown as he continues to cultivate his business. One of the latest industry trends he has observed is producing high-end coffee table books from his photographs. He works with high-end book production companies to produce books options that include images printed on metallic paper to binding in rich leathers. de Christian says his clients utilize the books as a gift to a significant other or as an elegant way to display and capture a moment for a lifetime.

“Everyone has a story to tell, and it’s my job to tell that story through images,” de Christian says.

Identifying Marketing Trends: Social Advertising
With more than 1.06 billion monthly active users, it’s hard to deny the promotional capabilities of Facebook from a marketing perspective. In October, Facebook rolled out a “Sponsored Posts” option that allows you to promote friends and business’ posts for a fee. According to Facebook, the “Promote Post” function is especially beneficial to those making charity fundraising efforts, accomplishments, sales and personal announcements, such as an engagement. This option joins a growing marketing approach known as “social advertising.”
Marnie Goldberg, Amplification, Inc. Social Medium

“Sponsored posts are extremely effective at increasing your reach and helping you target specific demographics,” says Marnie Goldberg, Social Medium at Amplification, Inc., a South Florida-based social media company. “We have been very successful with fan acquisition campaigns for a number of clients and with promoting a specific event."

Goldberg cited several examples from her social media clients, including a recent sponsored campaign of a YouTube video for Polo Trace Golf Club that increased video views by a factor of five within a few days (Click here to view the video "Ladies League at Polo Trace Golf Club"). An awesome side effect was an increase in fans, too. Meaning by sponsoring the video, Polo Trace’s fan page on Facebook also acquired new fans as a result.

Goldberg calls this the “halo effect.”

“When you are trying to acquire fans for a Facebook page, having some sort of messaging is essential,” Goldberg says. “Combining video and sponsored posts has given us great success.”
Thanks to Facebook’s tracking metrics, social media reach and effectiveness is more than anecdotal. Goldberg says Facebook provides a wealth of information, including impressions and unique visitors.

“As marketers, we can then use this information to calibrate our efforts and adjust messaging whenever necessary,” Goldberg says.

Party in the Park will be held on May 5.
Sponsored Facebook efforts are best centered around a fan acquisition or messaging agenda. Another way to employ it is by pushing a specific event. How many times a week or month do you get event invitations from these same friends who work as a club promoter or DJ? The new Facebook capability circumvents that consumer numbness or apathy. Goldberg utilized Facebook metrics to fine-tune the audience, selecting age groups, specific demographics and Facebook users who liked certain music types, outdoor concerts and communities for an upcoming music event to benefit the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade County. After one week, the number of RSVPs had increased by almost 80 percent—an eye-catching jump from previous event-related marketing efforts. (Click here to view the Parks Foundation's event invite for "Love-In Party in the Park").

“When we help clients target their efforts, they see better results,” Goldberg says. “Making the cyclical connection among video, sponsored posts and fan acquisitions is a natural fit.”

Making The Grade in Standardized Testing

“Put down your pencils and please turn in your test booklets.”
These are the words thousands of high-school students hear each year when taking the SAT or ACT tests that could determine college admission and/or college scholarships. Such standardized tests have been the source of frustration, excitement and success for young students.

There’s only one problem. Scores are dropping nationwide. The College Board organization that writes and manages the SAT reported the lowest scores in 40 years and a 20-point decline since 2006, according to The Washington Post.

Focused Preparation
ElDeiry
Preparation for such a daunting test requires a deeper understanding of the test itself and a focus on a student’s learning and test-taking style, according to Mike ElDeiry, owner and instructor with Weston-based Broward Tutorial Services, also known as BTS.
Broward Tutorial Services provides small-group preparation with eight or fewer students and private tutoring for SAT and ACT preparation as well as ACT/SAT Diagnostic testing to give students a baseline for what they might score on the test and areas for improvement.
“The key to success is not volume, but quality,” ElDeiry says. “Taking small-group classes gives our students a personalized approach while relating to the struggles of fellow students. Students have to start early in taking practice tests, putting the time in studying and practicing—and practicing some more.”
Broward Tutorial Services boasts an impressive track record of success, with many students raising scores by over 300 points on the SAT. After studying at Tufts and Harvard Universities and earning an MBA from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, ElDeiry used his experience as an algebra, math and business professor, to prepare students for these and other areas of college testing. ElDeiry teaches these small-group classes with language arts expert Adam Moss, a reading and English professor who specializes in coaching students at every skill level in preparation for grammar and reading examinations.
While ElDeiry and the BTS team try to pinpoint each student’s potential for improving testing scores, additional portions emphasized include time management, recognizing “trap” questions and process of elimination.

Expect Success
Florida’s lottery-funded “Bright Futures” program sets a minimum GPA and ACT/SAT scores for automatic scholarships to any Florida public college/university. These requirements create a more competitive landscape for college admissions and scholarships. The ability to help a student achieve the desired score and beyond is one of the reasons ElDeiry continues to provide test preparation services.
“I always knew that teaching was my calling, and my fellow instructor Adam and I both have a special skill for seeing where students get stuck and what they get stuck on,” he says. “Helping students be able to afford college is life-changing.”
For more information about Broward Tutorial Services, please visit BrowardTutorial.com or call (954) 667-6500. To view a listing of upcoming small-group classes, click here. Online registration is available.

South Florida Social Media Success

I'm Steve Cabeza, I run Amplification, Inc., a social media marketing and management company and I am about to give you some free social media marketing advice. Want to get your product, service, and message more attention? Shoot some video and hang it in YouTube. Yeah, it's that easy.

Remember: 1. The average YouTube (which is owned by Google) video is 2 minutes, 46 seconds in length, so keep your productions at that length or shorter because, 2. the shorter your video is, the more likely it will be shared. Sharing is caring, because sharing helps your message to go viral.

You don't need expensive equipment or sophisticated training to make this happen. Most smartphones have a camcorder. You can edit videos you have uploaded right in YouTube. I shot, filmed and edited this short video teaser using only two EVO HTC smartphones and YouTube as a "teaser / promo video" in advance of a speaking engagement about social media  for the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. You can also hire Amplification, Inc. Check out our YouTube Channel and our video-sharing website www.ShareMETV.com to help with your needs.

Kevin Madok is a candidate running for the Monroe County, Florida Clerk of Courts. He is leveraging video content shot and uploaded by others to further his campaign on social media. Here's a recent video interview of Kevin produced by Conch Records. Great idea by Conch Records, because their message is piggybacked along and gets delivered by association to anyone and everyone who is searching for content about the candidates taking part in the race to be the next Clerk of the Courts.

Congratulations to the Scott Israel Campaign for recent endorsements by The Miami Herald, the Broward County Police Benevolent Association and the National Women's Political Caucus. Amplification, Inc. is supporting Scott Israel's campaign for Broward County Sheriff. Check out Scott's website www.ScottIsraelforSheriff2012, and find him on Facebook by clicking here.

Amplification, Inc. has produced video content for LadysFootball.com recently (NFL's Best Catches) and the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade County. Speaking of Parks, check out this recent article in The Miami Herald about the fitness zones that have been created by placing outdoor gym equipment in parks. Great idea and great job by Miami-Dade County!

Here is a brief video history of South (Miami) Beach, put together to support the efforts of MRA Design of Miami. Read more about MRA and the retail, hospitality, residential, condo and commercial experience they bring to the table. Click here to go to MRA's Facebook page.

More Than the Princess Option
Meet Michele Yulo, the innovator behind the Princess Free Zone company and movement who describes herself as “on a mission” to provide alternatives to the traditional “princess” product for girls.

“The inspiration for Princess Free Zone came from my little girl,” Michele says. “She didn’t like the traditional princess-y girly stuff. I wanted to give her other heroes, clothing, toy and book options that extended beyond the princess idea.”
See Michele’s concepts come to fruition for yourself on her website, PrincessFreeZone.com. Hit up the “Shopping” area to find unique t-shirts for girls including a fun-loving octopus riding a skateboard to a shirt bearing the message for Princess Free Zone: Kind = Cool.
Michele also has written a fully illustrated book, Super Tool Lula: The Bully-Fighting SuperHero! The book is perfect for those ages 6 and up and features Lula, a super hero who uses magical tools to fight bullying.
The book is part of a larger inspiration Michele has discovered since launching Princess Free Zone: to eradicate bullying and encourage acceptance of all people, including the girl who wants more than the princess option.
“My focus is on gender stereotyping and how it affects kids and adults,” Michele says. “I want my anti-bullying message to shift the way kids see other kids.” Michele’s blog has been featured on sites such as The Frisky and Huffington Post.
Michele sees a big future for the Princess Free Zone, from an action figure doll to a television show to a tool belt for girls. She is actively looking for investors to expand her brand.

Social CPAs and the South Florida Housing Market
On June 11 through 13, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants combined social media with its Orlando conference plus its Tampa conference to equal the Mega CPE Conference.
With presentations simulcast in both Tampa and Orlando, the conference featured elite keynote speakers such as Florida Governor Rick Scott and U.S. Senator Bob Graham. The conference also featured two names familiar to the Amplification, Inc. family: Steve Cabeza, Social Media Idea Man at Amplification, and Dan Levine, CPA, South Florida real estate investor and developer.
“It was really an exciting and successful event,” Dan says. “Combining the conferences was a bold attempt to make the event more fun and social.”
Dan presented his perspective on the current state of the South Florida housing market. In his current job capacities, he says he has seen many people buying homes for renovation or re-sell as the market starts to make a return.
At the conference, Dan urged cautious optimism.
“It’s a very good time to buy, but it’s possible we have not yet seen the bottom of the housing market because there are many foreclosure and short-sell homes still on the market,” Dan says. “While some developers may be able to afford to buy, they may not have the buyers because today’s buyers often lack cash or credit.”
Dan says he perceives the market will be a “landlord’s” market for some time, where people are renting, not buying.
“The message is that it’s a good time to buy, but there is always a need to be careful,” Dan says.
For more sage advice from Dan, follow him on Twitter at @DanLevineCPA.

The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run recreates the final steps of firefighter Stephen Siller, last seen running through the Brooklyn Battery tunnel with 75 pounds of gear strapped to his back en route to the World Trade Center after the 9/11 attacks. The event, originally intended as a way for New Yorkers to honor fallen heroes, has now become a yearly tribute to everyone who lost their lives that day and transcends the tragedy by honoring firefighters and all first responders.

Last year, to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, communities around the country, including Fort Lauderdale, hosted Tunnel to Towers Runs. This year's run will take place on September 8, 2012 at Huizenga Park. For more information, go to www.tunneltotowersfortlauderdale5k.com and join me at the Kick-Off Bash at McSorley's Beach Pub on Thursday August 16, 2012 starting at 6:00 p.m. Find the Facebook event here.

The Perfect Fit for CrossFit

To have the outdoor space for running and the interior space for gymnastic rings and hanging ropes, Steve Bowser knew he was going to need plenty of room for his CrossFit facility. At 595 Corporate Park of Commerce, he found a 4,000-square foot space he and his trainers could call home—and put people through the challenging workouts CrossFit is famous for.

“Our location is right off the 595 corridor, so we loved the convenience for our clients when we were looking for new gym space,” said Bowser, who is the owner and program director of the CrossFit Affliction facility. “It’s been our location for three years, and the management company and owners keep it incredibly clean, neat and organized.”

[ Desk Job = Damaged Back ]

At its core, CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program designed for everyone—the gym even offers classes for those ages 6 to 12. The space is a weightlifter’s dream, filled with power racks, kettlebells, rowing machines, medicine balls and Prowler sleds. For exercisers considering giving CrossFit a try, Bowser recommends calling their location and making an appointment. CrossFit offers introductory sessions to walk exercisers through techniques and common exercise movements so exercisers can start their first class feeling comfortable and safe.

Finding Your Space

Like Bowser and the CrossFit facility, businesses can find the space to fit their needs, from showroom and warehouse spaces ranging from 2,000 to more than 30,000 square feet of space.

[ Broward County Real Estate Heats Up ]

“In business, location is everything—and we feel like we have the best location in town in an area that’s only going to expand,” said Robert Lechter, managing member with the REMS Group, who developed the 42-acre 595 Corporate Park of Commerce. “The Corporate Park of Commerce was built to be a complex that fit a business’ aesthetic needs, not to mention how convenient and highly visible it is from the interstate.” Check out the video tour.

You’ll Get Hooked

Bowser’s gym has the term “affliction” in the title because that’s the kind of dedication CrossFit trainees have. When clients catch the affliction, they keep coming back to get fit.

“We have a broad base of clientele, from the grandparent who would like to lift her grandchild a little easier to the cage fighter that trains for a televised bout,” Bowser said. “The best part about CrossFit is that people see results so quickly. You’re never going to get bored.”

Broward County Real Estate Markets Heat Up In Winter

While the national commercial and residential real estate markets have been decidedly downward, Broward
County real estate representatives aren’t feeling the chill.

“The winter months are truly the busiest of the year in
South Florida—from large commercial buildings to
residential properties, deals are closing,” said Melanie
Levine of Mellex Title Services, LLC, a Plantation, Fla.-
based title services company and winner of Fidelity National Title’s Top Ten Agent for Southeast Florida award.

If trends continue in the current market, Levine predicts continued sales in the Weston
(Western Broward County) market, which has shown some of the largest increases
in homes sold versus homes on the market. In addition, South Florida vacation property
sales have reached their highest point in five years since the market’s peak in March 2005.

“This is an excellent time to be an investor or buyer in Southeast Florida,” said Moe Veissi,
the president-elect of the National Association of Realtors in a speech given November 7 at
the Miami International Real Estate Conference.

Capitalizing on the fast-growing commercial real estate opportunities in Weston is the 595 Corporate Park of Commerce. Located in Central Broward County, directly off Interstate
595, the site has seen the benefits of prime location in a growing residential community.

“From a geographic and facilities standpoint, it’s the best project in town,” said Robert
Lechter, managing member with REMS Group who developed the 42-acre site, visible
from East and West I-595. “Commercial investors are attracted to the fact that it’s a
state-of-the-art commercial park in a location where people are not only purchasing
homes, but also buying goods.”

Attracting Industries Near and Far

The 595 Corporate Park of Commerce (video) is home to Dragados, USA, the construction division of international company ACS Group, who specializes in promoting infrastructure
and services. The company is currently conducting a $1.8 billion construction project along
I-595, further enhancing the attractiveness of the Weston market. Also calling the
595 Corporate Park of Commerce home, is the international headquarters of marine
life artist Guy Harvey. The Sun-Sentinel recently reported that Guy Harvey, Inc.
has announced plans to develop its second boutique Outpost resort, which travelers
can reach via chartered plane from Fort Lauderdale.

[ More about Guy Harvey and their signage ]

As unemployment rates reached their lowest nationwide numbers—8.6 percent in
November—since March 2009, the economic climate is right for job creation and new
businesses moving into the area. Considering the interest in the 595 Corporate Park of
Commerce and the growing Weston market, Lechter says he is not surprised at the market
shift toward Weston.

“The 595 Corporate Park of Commerce is situated in one of the few areas in the entire
country that is financially sound,” Lechter said. “We built this park with space to meet the
needs of a variety of commercial investors.”

595 Corporate Park of Commerce has completed units available for purchase or lease,
ranging from 1,970 sq. ft. to 10,000 sq. ft. For more information about opportunities to capitalize on this growing market, contact Maiko Winer with REMS Group at (954)

The Foreclosure Opportunity #Real #RealEstate #Broward #Foreclosure

Thinking of making a foreclosure your home sweet home? Better gather up your trustees.

After the housing market skyrocketed beyond a maintainable level, it fell to a new low. One of the most noticeable consequences is the incredible number of foreclosures now on the market. But if you’re thinking of getting a low mortgage payment by becoming the owner of a recently foreclosed home, you better know what you’re getting into.

Gift Some Safety!

“Foreclosure properties are great opportunities to get into a nice home at a great price,” says Melanie Levine, owner of Mellex Title, Inc. “You’ve just got to know what you’re doing and surround yourself with people you can trust.” Who should you include in your circle of foreclosure trustees and why? You’re about to find out.

Trustee 1: Inspector

If at all possible, you should have a professional inspector check out your potential new home. While it’s always important to give your next house a good look-over, it’s even more important if your next house is a foreclosure. Because in case you didn’t get the memo, foreclosed properties aren’t always left in pristine condition.

Need Focus?

As the previous owners obviously struggled to make their mortgage, they likely got caught up in things other than home maintenance. As a result, the house may have some serious issues that become yours when you sign on the dotted line. Having a pro look it over will let you determine if you’ve got enough dough to afford buying such a cheap home.

Trustee 2: Loved Ones

Just because a house passes inspection doesn’t mean it’s the place for you. Instead of plunging into buying a foreclosure, have your loved ones check out the place as well. Ask their opinion of the home and accept their opinion for what it’s worth. They may notice issues you overlook because of the great price you’re getting.

If these issues (bad neighborhood, small or unkempt yard, 20 more minutes from work) aren’t enough to keep you moving forward with purchasing the foreclosure, then go for it. Just make sure you consider what your loved ones have to say. They are, after all, trying to look out for your best interest.

Trustee 3: Title Agent

Want to make sure your new home is your home until you’re ready to sell it? Then you need a title agent who makes sure everything is done properly on the front end. That means making sure you get title insurance and a municipal lien search on the property. And a quality title agent won’t let you get away with a hit-and-run lien search. Melanie recommends making sure your search includes code violations, open permits, past due taxes. Otherwise, you may get stuck with something you didn’t bargain for.

Mixed Martial Arts Phenom!

“I had one client who couldn’t be convinced to undergo a municipal lien search, and was so convinced she didn’t need one that she signed an affidavit to hold the title harmless,” Melanie recalls. “As a result, she got stuck with a lien from the previous owner, and it’s all because she was in such a hurry to close!”

Interested in purchasing a foreclosure and want to make sure your money and your home is protected? Contact Melanie Levine at Mellex Title at (954) 914-5858 or Melanie@MellexTitle.com, find Mellex online at www.MellexTitle.com, or follow Melanie on Twitter.

However, there is no obligation to have your car serviced at Autologic. Just a little incentive. Because for customers who take advantage of the free safety check, Autologic is offering $50 off the first $100 worth of work. Think that $50 won’t go too far? Then you’ve never been to Autologic. “We’ll do whatever it takes to encourage folks to bring their cars here,” Ariel says. “Our goal is to help people have safer automobiles, and we do it in a convenient, cost-effective way. It’s how we’ve done business from day one, and that’s not going to change.”

Once you drop off your car, truck, van, or SUV at Autologic, you can get back to life. A couple hours later, you’ll be contacted about your ride. If any issues are found, you’ll be updated on the problems, and a master mechanic will tell you the best solution. Of course, you don’t have to keep this safe-tastic deal to yourself. Have a loved one whose car needs a little work? Get them a $100 gift certificate to Autologic for only $50. Because safety is one of the few gifts that gives back every day.
