Camaraderie, #Networking, Success #Broward #Davie #FL

An Easy Choice

You’ve thought about joining the Davie-Cooper City Chamber of Commerce, but you’ve not taken the step yet. Want a good reason to do it? Try this on for size.

“Chamber membership provides multiple opportunities and resources for members to make contacts, enhance their business’s exposure, and help community organizations put their missions in front of the public,” says Alice Harrington, President of the Davie-Cooper City Chamber of Commerce (click to find them on Facebook and Twitter).

Ready to rethink your decision?

How you can be part of it all

When Gina Leggiere moved to Davie, Florida, to open Davie SIGNARAMA in September 2008, she wasted no time joining the Davie-Cooper City Chamber of Commerce. Having been a member of her local chamber while in New Jersey, she had firsthand knowledge of the benefits of being a chamber member.

“It’s always important for business professionals to be members of their local chamber of commerce,” says Leggiere, who is a member of the chamber’s board of directors. “You’ve got to keep it local—especially in rough economic times, and the best way to do that is by knowing your fellow local business owners.”

For Leggiere, maintaining her franchise’s local identity has been key to her success. Couple that with Leggiere’s insistence on excellence, and it’s no wonder so many chamber members and businesspeople throughout the community turn to Davie SIGNARAMA (find them on Facebook and Twitter) when they’re looking for top-notch signs in a timely fashion.

Adventures while Amplifying

If you don’t know yet (where have you been hiding?), this guy (me) is always working. This has been the case since the inception of Amplification, Inc. (find us on Facebook and Twitter), as every event—social or not—is an opportunity to cultivate a larger social circle and perhaps engage a future client or valuable business contact or assist a current friend or client in need.

This past week was a whirlwind. Because of an impending need for office space for our growing social media empire, my business partner Marnie (Marnie Goldberg, Social Medium at Amplification, Inc.) started considering our options, both short- and long-term. And in case no one has told you, thinking many steps ahead all the time can be challenging.

Marnie here! I have to agree with Steve when he defines our week as a “whirlwind.” It has been nonstop, but I’m sitting here with a huge smile on my face, recapping and catching up on this week’s work. Forward thinking is a challenge, but that’s why I’m partners with the “idea man/marketing ninja” of Amplification, Inc. We, as well as our clients, are in great hands! His last name isn’t Cabeza for nothing! (For the non-Spanish speakers, Cabeza means head, and Steve-o uses his quite well.) Okay, back to Steve now.

I recently had the opportunity to reconnect with an old family friend, Marshall Golnick, CEO of the HMG Group. His father, Leon, invented syndicated advertising with the “shared” marketing approach he developed for Ford Motor Company back in the 1960s. Marshall continues to bring Madison Avenue to hometown America, and meeting his newest staffer, Daryll Dobson, was cool. Looking forward to doing big things together.

We also frequented McSorley’s Irish Pub a few times and took advantage of their unique and fabulous rooftop and beachfront sundeck lounge (check them out on Facebook and Twitter). There is nothing like enjoying a cold beer or one of Marnie’s fruity concoctions while you gaze out at the Atlantic. Stop by and check them out. They are just south of Sunrise Boulevard on A.1.A. We guarantee you will be surprised by how nice and classy the joint is—especially upstairs.

It was there that we had the opportunity to meet John D’Elia with Art-Technical and Eric Sherlock with Sherlock Home Renovations. Not sure if they were more excited about Marnie’s social media know-how or her legs, but they were obviously thrilled to be hopping on the Amplification, Inc. train. John and Eric were certainly entertaining, and their work is equally impressive. Eric does some visually impressive design and remodeling work. To get a peak, check out his Facebook page.

In case the whirlwind weeks have your head spinning and you missed out, Club Cabeza’s latest blog post was about Davie SIGNARAMA and some work they’ve recently done for Guy Harvey. It was fun learning about all the positive ways in which Guy Harvey supports the ocean in a responsible manner. Click here to read that article.

We also received news that our friends Kristin Levanovich and Robin Canfield launched their company’s website, www.aikensapproach.com. A huge congratulation to them for diving into the entrepreneurial world with The Aikens Approach for the business professional. The Aikens Approach is an on-the-spot stress management and performance improvement program tailored for business professionals. Check out their story on their website. All the best to you ladies!

The week wrapped up with some chamber fun, as we got to watch Eco-Friendly Auto Center and Sully Dawson win Small Business of the Year from the Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. Eco-Friendly is a green, earth-friendly auto center at Commercial and Dixie. Visit them for your next auto-service need, congratulate Sully in person, and be sure to tell ‘em Amplification sent you.

Amplification, Inc. also became the newest member of the Davie-Cooper City Chamber of Commerce. We’re looking forward to reconnecting with all the fine folks from there whom I lost touch with when I left Plantation General to go to work at True North.

Thank you for reading! This blog was written by Steve Cabeza, Idea Man and Marketing Ninja at Amplification, Inc. It was augmented, edited, and improved for publication by Daniel K. Brantley, our top-gun, freelance writing ace-in-the-hole! Email Daniel or follow along on Twitter. And of course, it was gently interrupted by none other than Marnie Goldberg, Amplification, Inc.’s one and only Social Medium.

World Headquarter Quality

What happens when two companies that demand excellence converge? Only the best.

With a quarter century under their belt, Guy Harvey, Inc. has established a brand that resonates with individuals seeking quality. From clothing and jewelry to books and videos to boat wraps and Guy’s immediately recognizable art, Guy Harvey, Inc. has aligned itself from day one with companies and causes of excellence.

As proud as Guy is of his art, apparel, and other merchandise, ocean conservation has the greatest grip on his heart. Hence why he developed the Guy Harvey Research Institute at Nova Southeastern University Oceanographic Center in 1999 and the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation in 2008.

“Guy Harvey is a lifelong conservationist,” says Greg Jacoski, Director of the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation. “He has dedicated his whole life to preserving fish for the health of our oceans. Guy fully understands the value of fishing, and he wants more people to fish in a sustainable manner.”

Recent Work

Over the years, the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation has funded various research and education programs and now funds its own outreach and education programs. One of the Foundation’s most recent funding efforts involved the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. In response to the spill, Guy created two new t-shirt designs and donated all t-shirt proceeds to Gulf of Mexico fishery restoration. In a meager two months, $500,000 was raised through t-shirt sales, and more was donated by philanthropists who believe in and stand behind Guy Harvey.

Around the same time as the spill, Guy Harvey, Inc. needed more office space and moved its world headquarters into Davie, Florida. To make sure passersby would know where they were located, they looked for a sign company that put quality on top of their priorities. After asking around a bit, they were convinced Davie SIGNARAMA was the best place to turn.

“We wanted to put an impressive sign out front to put our flag in the ground,” says Harvey Taulien, Vice President of Guy Harvey, Inc. “Gina Leggiere and the team at Davie SIGNARAMA came out, gave us some proposals, and worked to make sure the sign met codes set by the development where we’re located and the town of Davie.”

Above and Beyond

Met codes? You read right. In order to have the huge Guy Harvey signature sign placed on the outside of Guy Harvey, Inc.’s world headquarters, some changes had to be made. Instead of putting the weight of the changes on the Guy Harvey team, Davie SIGNARAMA took it on.

This required the Davie SIGNARAMA team to undergo a 90-day process that included attending town meetings and rewriting sign ordinances. But the hard work paid off. Today, the Guy Harvey signature hangs proudly, clearly showing their new location during the day and dazzling at night, thanks to the sign’s LED display.

“Having a local company with professionals who knew how to get signs approved in a timely manner was huge for us,” says Steve Stock, President of Guy Harvey, Inc. “At the end of the day, the sign was made well and put up in a professional manner. The final product was what we wanted, and that is reason enough to turn to Davie SIGNARAMA again.”

To get your sign needs met by professionals committed to the same level of quality as Guy Harvey, Inc., contact Davie SIGNARAMA at (954) 476-4923, sar@daviesignarama.com, or www.daviesignarama.com. Or visit Gina at 1906 So. University Drive, Davie, Florida 33324.

To support the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, tee off at the foundation’s inaugural Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation Golf Tournament on Monday, May 16, at the Coral Ridge Country Club in Fort Lauderdale. Visit www.guyharveyoceanfoundation.org to learn more or to register.

High-Rising Signs: How Davie SIGNARAMA gave the high-rise treatment to Midtown 24.

With a small window of time before opening Midtown 24 to tenants and residents, Tammy Britton was in a tough position. As Vice President of Operations and Marketing for American Land Ventures, the company that manages Midtown 24, Britton hired a company to carry the weight of creating and installing signage for Midtown 24. Since Midtown 24 was going to be Plantation, Florida’s only high-rise rental community, the signage had to reflect the elegance and character of the property.

Unfortunately, after Britton saw the first round of signs, she wasn’t satisfied. She needed another sign company, and a coworker discovered Davie SIGNARAMA.

A Call Away

After one phone call, Gina Leggiere, Owner of Davie SIGNARAMA, was on-site that day. Britton told Leggiere about Midtown 24’s 236 apartments, amenities such as Liquid Courage (martini-karaoke bar), Xcape (arcade), and Burn 24 (24-hour fitness center with complementary access to a fitness pro and weekend boot camps). She also informed Leggiere of the 16 retail spaces that house a body-waxing salon, a hair salon, and more. Leggiere took it in, headed back to the shop, and got her team on the project.

Shortly after, the SIGNARAMA team began installing gorgeous signage all over Midtown 24. Now, large etched glass signs hang in the lobby to display floor plans, 7-foot tall window wraps invite vendors to consider retail space beneath the apartments, Burn 24 and the facility’s pool have quality signage, and outdoor signage makes it clear where future residents will park. And when Britton didn’t like the size of a couple of signs, SIGNARAMA replaced them.

“When a couple signs were up, they were a little too large or small for the space,” Britton says. “Gina was so passionate about making sure I was happy that she scrapped the originals and provided new signs that better fit the space—at no cost to me.”

Matching the Quality

With such gorgeous spaces and luxurious amenities, you may think signs don’t have much impact at Midtown 24. Think again.

“Signs are the first thing customers see,” Britton says. “You can’t have low-quality signage in a luxurious high-rise apartment community. From vibrant color to the finish on the product to installation, it all has to be top-notch. Davie SIGNARAMA made sure all our signs were aligned with the quality Midtown 24 exudes. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have used them after the first sign.”
